Oil on 91cm x 61cm stretched canvas painted entirely using a knife (Collaboration with English National Ballet's Daria Klimentova - Thx Daria)

There's many more figurative, dance and portrait fine art original oil paintings, pastels and gicleé prints on my website: R Young Art

Prints are now only available via my website, though I do sign them. I have disabled all prints of my artwork on DA in protest as they removed my featured artwork, didn't adhere to their own policies and ignored my communications so I don't see why I should contribute financially with print commissions...

How utterly beautiful. So soft, elegant and peaceful.

Life is like a shit sandwich: the more bread you have, the less shit you have to eat.
I wish I could paint that well with a knife...actually I wish I could paint that well at all.
I adore the darker tones in this.

Every night, Doctor, when it gets dark, and the stars come out, I'll look up, on her behalf. I'll look up at the sky and think of you.
your ballerina works really remind me of degas' works - only a lot clearer and a lot more realistic. you capture their grace and beauty so well - and with a knife! that's a feat within itself! if i were able to paint at all, i would wish to be like you. haha.

The kitten quotes: "WHEN can you draw a kitten in a still life? When it's dead - that way it'll hold still."

"They'll be soft as kittens . . . because that's what they're made of!"
i can never get this oil to work...maybe I need a teacher :paranoid: this is amazing!

What we love is not important, why we love it, is.

:frail: "lovehurts" but "always somewhere" there's "stairway to heaven" :frail:
This is beautiful. It makes me feel sad. I love the positioning of the hands, and I think that's a big part of the reason why it feels sad, more than just the close to the floor pose.
I adore the details. The little prongs of the crown, the feathers on the tutu and the muscles in the arm stand out the most to me.
